PRODUCER

RAYMOND GASPARD -  has been involved in the arts and entertainment industry since first traveling to NYC from Los Angeles to attend Columbia University. While still at Columbia he worked as a photographer at Time/Life and subsequently worked on tours with Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder and other extraordinary groups. He left the music industry to help design and run the entertainment complex at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics after which he returned to NYC where he transitioned into theatre, founding the WestSide Arts Theatre which he ran for a decade. After leaving that venue he next founded the Union Square Theatre where he stayed for 5 years. With more than a hundred theatrical productions under his belt a number of film credits as distributor and producer, Mr. Gaspard was recruited to run the Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center, where he stayed for six years. A bit of serendipity landed the script for A STEADY RAIN in his lap which he first produced in Chicago and later took to Broadway starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig. Since that production he has been represented on Broadway by both THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, for which Cicely Tyson won a Tony Award, and both presentations on Broadway of David Byrnes’s AMERICAN UTOPIA.   Mr. Gaspard is also a producer on the musical A FACE IN THE CROWD, with music and lyrics by Elvis Costello and which opens in September at the Young Vic Theatre in London.
